Among the vast world of vintage timepieces, there is no doubt that diving watches hold a special place in the hearts of many collectors, ourselves included.
With their simple and clean designs and their reliable and robust movements, the tool watches of the 1960s and 1970s were built to accompany the adventurer across the globe and to keep time at its great heights as well as its dark depths. For every Rolex Submariner, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, or Omega Seamaster, there were scores of other lesser-known names that nevertheless merit consideration from the vintage watch enthusiast.
Aquastar is one of those names. And this particular model is something truly special!
Featuring a standard 37mm waterproof stainless case that saw use in countless contract diving watches of the era, this lovely Aquastar is fitted with a two piece sunburst grey Tritium dial with an rotating inner timing bezel, oversized applied indices at 6:00, 9:00, and 12:00, with an asymmetrical date window at 3:00, a matching handset, a signed crown, and a beautiful domed acrylic crystal rounding out the package.
Furthermore, this particular model is double-signed for Cressi Sub diving equipment - a major player in the SCUBA game - and comes compete with a presentation box and booklet dated 1970 - something we have never seen before on a vintage Aquastar!
While vintage Aquastar watches appear periodically on the vintage watch market, they’re rarely in such excellent condition as the one we offer here, due to the hard use that they were invariably subjected to throughout their lives.
We’re not sure when such an excellent and complete package will surface again — so don’t miss it!
