For most of its existence, Piaget operated quietly behind the proverbial horology curtain, producing some of the most mechanical movements in Switzerland.

But when the Piaget name was displayed on the dial, the brand embodied a distinguishable lavish style that became synonymous with a period of opulence, representative of the American dream in the 1960s and 70s, as well as those wore it –– Andy Warhol, Roger Moore, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elvis Presley, and many more.

Hailing from that exact era, this particular Piaget, a Reference 12427, is housed in a 32mm 18K white gold ‘sqound’ case that features a fantastic Clous de Paris bezel with engraved hour indices. Simple and quite elegant, the dial features a matching dauphine handset as well as the stylized Piaget signature set against an absolutely stunning ‘bullseye’ stone dial.

Powered by an ultra-thin, self-winding, Piaget Calibre 12P1 micro-rotor movement, this vintage gem is in excellent condition given that it's more than 50 years old!

Vintage Piaget, and stone dialed timepieces as a whole, are sizzling hot right now. So much so, that brands have taken note and reached back into their archives to bring back such examples.

A reissue is fine, but nothing beats the original — a moment in time when they hit the bullseye in terms of design and aesthetics — pun intended.
